The ignition lock housing locks the steering column in place from turning when the vehicle is turned off and the key is removed from the ignition tumbler. It also contains the mechanical and electrical components of the ignition switch that turns your vehicle’s power on and starts the vehicle when the key is inserted into and turn in the tumbler.
The ignition lock housing is always locking and unlocking the steering column and the ignition switch is turned every time you start up and turn off your car, the moving parts with the lock housing are prone to wear out over time. When this happens, it can make your vehicle unable to start.
